A family farm in Himachal Pradesh

Haldi grown the slow way, the way it was always grown.

No pesticides. No chemical fertiliser. Just cow dung manure, mountain soil, and a family that decided to keep farming the way our elders always have.

Where we are today

We are a new farm, and we would rather say so.

DK Nature Farms is young. We are not going to pretend otherwise — the reason to buy from us is not that we are big. It is that we are still small enough to walk every row ourselves.

So we grow a few things properly instead of many things badly. Haldi is in the ground and ready for your kitchen. Moringa is planted and coming up well. Red chilli and lemon are next, and the mango orchard has been in the family for years.

Coming soon

Organic red chilli powder

Grown the same way as the haldi and ground on the same farm. The packaging is ready and the crop is on its way — we will open orders the day we have stock we are happy with.

Planting this season

Lemon

Young lemon trees are going in alongside the haldi. It will be a few seasons before there is fruit worth selling, and we are not going to sell any before then.

Orchard already ours

Mango

Our mango trees have stood on this land for years, and the haldi grows in their shade. We do not sell the fruit yet. When we can pack and ship it without it losing anything on the way, we will.

From our farm to your family

Six steps, and not one of them is a shortcut.

This is the whole process. It takes about nine months from planting to the packet in your kitchen, and every stage happens on our own farm.

01

Grown naturally

Cow dung manure and mountain water. Nothing sprayed, ever.

02

Hand harvested

Dug by hand so the roots come up whole and unbruised.

03

Sun dried

Laid out in open Himachal sun. No kilns, no rushing it.

04

Stone ground

Ground slow and cool, so the aroma and colour survive.

05

Nothing added

No colour, no filler, no preservative. Only haldi.

06

Packed for you

Sealed on the farm and sent out in small batches.

The family

A farm run by one family, start to finish.

Nothing stands between our field and your kitchen. The same family that plants the seed digs the harvest, dries it, grinds it and seals the packet.

Our elders learned this land from theirs. What we changed is the record-keeping and the packing — what we refused to change is the farming itself.

The rule our elders set

DK

The letters are our grandparents’ initials.

D for Late Sh. Dharam Singh Chambial, who planted the mango trees our haldi still grows under. K for Kamla Devi Chambial, who decided what was good enough to leave the house. The name is theirs, so the standard has to be too.

Before you ask

The questions we get most.

If yours is not here, ring the farm. Somebody will pick up.

Not yet, and we would rather say so than imply otherwise. Certification is a process we have started thinking about, not one we have finished. What we can offer instead is a farm you are welcome to walk through, a phone we answer ourselves, and photographs of every field taken by us.

Open the pouch and smell it — ours is sharp, not faint. The colour shifts a little between harvests because nothing is added to standardise it. Stir a spoon into warm water: it should cloud the water gold and settle slowly, not drop clear sediment.

Yes, whole and ground, to shops, kitchens and brands who want a traceable single-farm source. Tell us the quantity and how often you need it and we will tell you honestly whether our harvest can cover it.

One phone call or a WhatsApp message on +91 78071 49747. Tell us the product and the quantity and we will confirm price and availability the same day. We pack and send in small batches as things dry.

Yes, by arrangement. Give us a few days notice so somebody is free to walk the rows with you. Harvest season is the most interesting time to come, and the busiest.

Because we hand weed instead of spraying, wait for full maturity instead of digging early, and grind slow instead of fast. We sell direct so there is no trader margin, but the farming itself costs what it costs.
